The story is about Nak, a beautiful young woman deeply in love with her husband, Mak.

While Nak is pregnant, Mak is sent to war and badly injured. During his absence, Nak and their baby die during childbirth.

When Mak returns, he finds Nak and their child waiting for him — unaware they are ghosts.
