In 18th-century Korea, Prince Yi San lives under the shadow of his father's tragic murder and the oppressive rule of his ruthless grandfather, the king. A perfectionist with a vision for reform, Yi San dreams of becoming a just and compassionate ruler who will transform the kingdom's harsh laws.
At the royal court, he meets Sung Deok Im, a sharp, spirited court lady who captivates him with her intelligence and independence. Drawn to her, Yi San proposes she become his concubine — but Deok Im hesitates, knowing the constraints and sacrifices that come with royal life.
As their bond deepens, love and duty intertwine. Together, they must navigate palace intrigue, personal loss, and political resistance — realizing that their union may not just change their lives, but the fate of the kingdom itself.
